Order GOD'S DIARY on-line
Foreword
Jesus Christs personality, His character, His passion and His cause awe me. Never have I met anyone who holds a candle to Him. He is without question the role model of all role models, the best of the best. His cause is without question the cause of all causes. GODS DIARY is my endeavor to in-capsule for others the verses of the Bible that gave me this picture of Him.
GODS DIARY is therefore not a scholarly attempt to create a literal and comprehensive condensed edition of the Bible. Rather it is my testimony of Jesus as I found Him in my reading. The path it follows through the Bible falls closely to that of the covenants.
Essentially GODS DIARY is a salvation summery of the Bible. It begins with Jesus' covenant promise of a savior to Adam and Eve and follows Him down through history as He relentlessly, personally, patiently and compassionately works for the fulfillment of that promise of salvation on the cross and its ultimate fulfillment in the earth made new.
This salvation summery is followed in chronological order with the books of First and Second Kings and First and Second Chronicles harmonized and the messages of the prophets appearing in their correct eras in history. The four gospels are also harmonized creating a single complete picture of Jesus' recorded life on earth.
The order for the chronology, which GODS DIARY follows, is based on information from the sources listed in appendix A. This appendix also includes the sources for the annotations found in a number of the chapters.
GODS DIARY is compiled in the format of todays books, with chapters spanning a selected time frame in the saga and paragraph breaks within the text. To maintain the flow of the story the text numbers, which traditionally appear before texts in the Bible, have been omitted. Instead the text references are listed in the order in which they appear at the end of each chapter.
GODS DIARY appears in the text of the King James Bible, 1769. To make its reading easier, archaic words and spellings have been updated to Modern English. Appendix B lists the sources used as the bases for the word and spelling selections chosen.
The texts for GODS DIARY were chosen on the single consideration of whether they had to do with Jesus Christ personally in regard to his cause of salvation, and in addition, any commentary directly outlining His character. This eliminated for me, a majority of the human interest stories and details of the Bible, leaving simply the single line of Jesus' personal biography as He worked out the plan of salvation. My ultimate goal was an undiluted focus on Jesus Christ Himself. Following this single line unfolds Jesus' character step by step through history.
An important part of this personal portrait of Jesus is gathered from the texts that showcase how He interacted with humanity in His process of working out the plan of salvation. His respect and integrity, His justice and love, His forgiveness and compassion, His patience and passion are laid bare as He unfalteringly insures the realization of His covenant promise of salvation and restoration through the millennia of history.
The selections made from the latter part of Exodus and for the laws and regulations of Leviticus are entirely guided by the laws and regulations that Jesus later refers to in the messages of the prophets, particularly in Ezekiel, Jeremiah, Micah, Zephaniah and Malachi. My only other consideration in selecting the passages for the Old Testament portion of GODS DIARY was to be certain any texts or stories referred to in the New Testament gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John were included.
The name GODS DIARY grew out of my personal view that ultimately the Bible is the biography of God, His story, and in a way, His diary. I pass this appetizer of it on to you as simply my testimony, in texts, of Jesus Christ. It is my sincere hope that in the pages of GODS DIARY you will come face to face with Jesus Christ. And in turn I hope that you will be inspired to read His unabridged edition of the biography with a new vital passion.
