Challenged!
(Foreword)

By Heidi Halvorson, GOD'S DIARY editor

In December of 1996 I was challenged by a book to identify the single most important thing in my life and seek to improve my skill in that area. As I considered the challenge, I realized there was nothing more important to me than Jesus Christ. I determined to get to know Him so well that if we caught each others' eye across a crowded room we could grin and wink because we'd know what the other was thinking. To do this I committed to read the Bible through six times in one year.

That reading revolutionized my life. The power, the passion, and the person of Jesus Christ captured me completely. I committed to sharing the picture I saw of Him with the world.

When I asked Jesus how to share that picture, He showed me I’d gathered it from texts throughout the Bible that focused on His story. Immediately I saw what He meant. From Genesis to Revelation the Bible is one grand symphony of salvation. Running through this symphony, like the melody theme, in a piece of music, threads Jesus’ story. It was this thread, His personal story I needed to share.

Within two weeks I was on my knees, by a computer, in an office in Seoul, Korea, (I was working as a Bible and English teacher there at the time) asking Him to help me capture that theme. After six days of praying and typing, praying and typing, praying and typing I printed off the first draft of a summary edition of the entire Bible. I felt like LinkMoses at the burning bush. It seemed as though I was holding something holy. There was no way, humanly speaking, a summary of the Bible could have been drafted in just six days. With a thrill in my heart I went back to the Language Institute where I worked and tested the summary out in my Bible classes.

After three months of study I asked my students, a majority of whom were professional adults and either Buddhist or atheist, how they viewed the God of the Bible as a result of our study of the summary. In their’ own words they answered, "He is justice" and "He is mercy love." Tears came to my eyes as I realized that the Bibles' ultimate purpose of vindicating God's character in regards to the harmony of His justice and love was being met by the summary.

Now, a myriad of miracles later, the summary, GOD’S DIARY has seen its final editing and this web site, WORD SIGHT has been born.

It is my passion is that you too will find God personally. I challenge you to read His diary, either the full length edition or this shorter one, and experience the passion, power and person of Jesus Christ for yourself.

God bless your reading,

Heidi
