Creation, Fall, Promise,
Murder and Flood

PictureIn the beginning God created the Linkheaven and the earth. (In the beginning was the LinkWord, and the LinkWord was with God, and the Word was God. And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth. For Linkthe law was given by LinkMoses, but grace and truth came by LinkJesus Christ. The same was in the Linkbeginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.)

And the LORD God Linkformed Linkman of the Linkdust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the Linkbreath of life; and man became a living Linksoul. And the LORD God caused a Picturedeep sleep to fall upon the man, and he slept: and God took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh; And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from Linkman, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man. So God created man Linkin his own image, in the image of God created he him; Linkmale and female created he them.

And God blessed them, and said unto them, "Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have Linkdominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moves upon the earth."

And the LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden. And took the man, and put him into the Linkgarden of Eden to dress it and to keep it. And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.

And on the Linkseventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he Linkrested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. And God blessed the Linkseventh day, and Linksanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.

And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, "Of every tree of the garden you may freely Linkeat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and Linkevil, you shall not eat of it: for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely Linkdie."

Picture Now the serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, "Truly, has God said, ‘You shall not eat of every tree of the garden?’"

And the woman said unto the serpent, "We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: But of the fruit of the tree which is in the middle of the garden, God has said, ‘You shall not eat of it, neither shall you touch it, lest you die.’"

And the serpent said unto the woman," LinkYou shall not surely die: For God does know that in the day you eat of it, then your eyes shall be opened, and you shall be as gods, knowing good and evil."

And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit of it, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat. And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.

And the LORD God said unto the serpent, "Because you have done this, you are cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon your belly shall you go, and dust shall you eat all the days of your life: And I will put enmity between Linkyou and the woman, and between your seed and her seed; it shall bruise your Linkhead, and you shall bruise his Linkheel."

Unto the woman he said, "I will greatly multiply your sorrow and your conception; in sorrow you shall bring forth children; and your desire shall be to your husband, and he shall rule over you."

Picture And unto LinkAdam he said, "Because you have listened unto the voice of your wife, and have eaten of the tree, of which I commanded you, saying, ‘You shall not eat of it’: cursed is the ground for your sake; in sorrow shall you eat of it all the days of your life; Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to you; and you shall eat the herb of the field; In the sweat of your face shall you eat bread, till you return unto the ground; for out of it were you taken: for dust you are, and unto dust shall you return." Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skins, and Linkclothed them.

And the LORD God said, "Look, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever…" Therefore the LORD God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from which he was taken. So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Angels, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.

And Adam knew LinkEve his wife; and she conceived, and bare LinkCain, and said, "I have gotten a man from the LORD." And she again bare his brother Abel. Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground.

PictureAnd Cain talked with Abel his brother: and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and Linkkilled him. And LinkCain went out from the presence of the LORD, and lived in the land of Nod, on the east of Eden.

And Adam knew his wife again; and she bare a son, and called his name LinkSeth: "For God," said she, "has appointed me another seed instead of Abel, whom Cain killed."

And the days of Adam after he had fathered LinkSeth were eight hundred years: and he fathered sons and daughters: And all the days that Adam lived were nine hundred and thirty years: and he died.

And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth...that the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose...Then GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart. But LinkNoah found grace in the eyes of the LORD.

PictureNoah was a just Linkman and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God. And God said unto Noah, "The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; look, I will destroy them with the earth."

"Make you an ark of gopher wood; rooms shall you make in the ark, and shall pitch it within and without with pitch. And, look, I, even I, do bring a flood of waters upon the earth, to destroy all flesh, in which is the Linkbreath of life, from under Linkheaven; and everything that is in the earth shall Linkdie. But with you will I establish my Linkcovenant; and you shall come into the ark, you, and your sons, and your wife, and your sons' wives with you.

"Of every clean beast you shall take to you by sevens, the male and his female: and of beasts that are not clean by two, the male and his female. Of fowls also of the air by sevens, the male and the female; to keep seed alive upon the face of all the earth. And of every living thing of all flesh, two of every sort shall you bring into the ark, to keep them alive with you; they shall be male and female."

Picture

Thus did Noah; according to all that God commanded him, so did he. (By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.)

And the LORD said unto Noah, "Come you and all your house into the ark; for you have I seen righteous before me in this generation."

In the selfsame day entered Noah, and LinkShem, and LinkHam, and LinkJapheth, the sons of Noah, and Noah's wife, and the three wives of his sons with them, into the ark; And they went in unto Noah into the ark, two and two of all flesh, in which is the breath of life. And they that went in, male and female of all flesh, as God had commanded him: and the LORD shut him in.
