Wise as Serpents…

And the same day, when the evening was come, LinkJesus said unto his disciples, "Let us pass over unto the other side." And when they had sent away the crowd, they took him even as he was in the boat. And there were also with him other little boats. And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the boats, so that it was now full. And Jesus was in the stern…of the boat, asleep on a pillow: and the disciples awoke him, and said unto him, "Master, care you not that we perish?"

And Jesus arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, "Peace, be still." And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. And he said unto them, "Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?"

And they were amazed, and said one to another, "What kind of Linkman is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?"

And they came over unto the other side of the sea, into the country of the Gadarenes. And when Jesus was come out of the boat, immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an Linkevil spirit, who had his home among the tombs; and no man could bind him, no, not with chains: For…he had been often bound with shackles and chains, and the chains had been broken apart by him, and the shackles broken in pieces: neither could any man restrain him.

When the man with the evil spirit saw Jesus, he cried out, and fell down before him, and with a loud voice said, "…What have we to do with you, Jesus, you Son of God? Are you come here to torment us before the time?"

For Jesus said unto him, "Come out of the man, you evil spirit."

And Jesus asked the evil spirit, "What is your name?"

And he answered, saying, "My name is Legion: for we are many." And he begged Jesus much that he would not send them away out of the country.

Now there was there near unto the mountains a great herd of pigs feeding. And all the devils begged Jesus, saying, "Send us into the pigs, that we may enter into them." And immediately Jesus gave them leave. And the evil spirits went out, and entered into the pigs: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the sea, (they were about two thousand) and was drowned in the sea.

And they that fed the pigs fled, and told it in the city, and in the country. And the people went out to see what it was that was done. And they come to Jesus, and saw him that was possessed with the devil, and had the legion, sitting, and clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid. And they began to beg Jesus to depart out of their coasts.

And when Jesus was come into the boat, the man that had been possessed with the devil begged him that he might be with him. However, Jesus permitted him not, but said unto him, "Go home to your friends, and tell them how great things the Lord has done for you, and has had compassion on you."

And the man departed, and began to publish in Decapolis how great things Jesus had done for him: and all men did marvel.

And when Jesus was passed over again by boat unto the other side, much people gathered unto him: and he was near unto the sea.

And LinkLevi Matthew made him a great feast in Matthew’s own house: and there was a great company of tax collectors and of others that sat down with them. And when the Pharisees saw it, they said unto Jesus’ disciples, ‘Why eats your Master with tax collectors and sinners?

And Jesus answering said unto them, "They that are whole need not a physician; but they that are sick. I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance." And the Pharisees said unto him, "Why do the disciples of John fast often, and make prayers, and likewise the disciples of the Pharisees; but yours Linkeat and drink?"

And Jesus said unto them, "Can you make the friends of the Linkmarriage room fast, while the bridegroom is with them? But the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken away from them, and then shall they fast in those days."

And he spoke also an example unto them; "No man puts a piece of a new garment upon an old; if otherwise, then both the new makes a tear, and the piece that was taken out of the new matches not with the old.

"And no man puts new wine into old bottles; else the new wine will burst the bottles, and be spilled, and the bottles shall perish. But new wine must be put into new bottles; and both are preserved. No man also having drunk old wine immediately desires new: for he says, ‘The old is better.’"

And, look, there came one of the rulers of the Linksynagogue, Jairus by name; and when he saw Jesus, he fell at his feet, and implored him greatly, saying, "My little daughter lies at the point of Linkdeath…come and lay your hands on her, that she may be healed; and she shall live." And Jesus arose, and followed him, and so did his disciples.

And, look, a woman, which was diseased with a flow of blood twelve years, came behind him, and touched the hem of his garment: For she said within herself, "If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole." And immediately the flow of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague.

And Jesus, immediately knowing in himself that power had gone out of him, turned him about in the crowd, and said, "Who touched my clothes?"

And his disciples said unto him, "You see the people crowding you, and say you, ‘Who touched me?’" And Jesus looked round about to see her that had done this thing.

And when the woman saw that she was not hid, she came trembling, and falling down before him, she declared unto Jesus before all the people for what cause she had touched him, and how she was healed immediately. And Jesus said unto her, "Daughter, be of good comfort: your faith has made you whole; go in peace."

While Jesus yet spoke, there came one from the ruler of the synagogue's house, saying to the ruler, "Your daughter is dead; trouble not the Master."

But when Jesus heard it, he answered the man, saying, "Fear not: believe only, and she shall be made whole." And when he came into the house, Jesus permitted no man to go in, save Peter, and James, and John, and the father and the mother of the maiden.

And the crowd wept, and mourned her: but Jesus said, "Weep not; she is not dead, but sleeps." And they laughed him to scorn, knowing that she was dead.

And Jesus took the child by the hand, and said unto her, "Talitha cumi"; which is, being interpreted, "Child, I say unto you, arise."

PictureAnd immediately the child arose, and walked, for she was of the age of twelve years. And the parents were astonished with a great astonishment. And Jesus charged them strictly that no man should know it; and commanded that something should be given her to eat.

And Jesus went out from there, and came into his own country; and his disciples followed him. And when the Linksabbath day was come, he began to teach in the synagogue: and many hearing him were astonished, saying, "From where has this man these things? And what wisdom is this, which is given unto him, that even such mighty works are done by his hands? Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon? And are not his sisters here with us?" And they were offended at him. But Jesus said unto them, "A Linkprophet is not without honor, but in his own country, and among his own relatives, and in his own house." And he did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief…save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them.

And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people. But when Jesus saw the crowds, he was moved with compassion on them, because they…were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd. Then said he unto his disciples, "The harvest truly is plenteous, but the laborers are few; pray you therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send out laborers into his harvest."

And when Jesus had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against evil spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease.

These twelve Jesus sent out…two by two…and commanded them, saying, "Go not into the way of the LinkGentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter you not: But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. And as you go, preach, saying, ‘The kingdom of Linkheaven is at hand.’ Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely you have received, freely give. Provide neither gold, nor silver, nor brass in your purses, nor bag for your journey, neither two coats, neither shoes, nor yet a staff: for the workman is worthy of his food.

"And into whatever city or town you shall enter, inquire who in it is worthy; and there remain till you go…. And when you come into a home greet the family. And if the home be worthy, let your peace come upon it: but if it be not worthy, let your peace return to you. And whoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when you depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet. Truly I say unto you, it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of Linkjudgment, than for that city.

"Look, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves: be you therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves. But beware of men: for they will deliver you up to the councils, and they will whip you in their synagogues; and you shall be brought before governors and kings for my sake, for a testimony against them and the Gentiles.

"But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what you shall speak: for it shall be given you in that same hour what you shall speak. …It is not you that speak, but the Spirit of your Father, which speaks in you.

"And the brother shall deliver up the brother to death, and the father the child: and the children shall rise up against their parents, and cause them to be put to death. And you shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endures to the end shall be Linksaved.

"But when they persecute you in this city, flee you into another: for truly I say unto you, you shall not have gone over the cities of Israel, till the Son of man be come. The disciple is not above his master, nor the servant above his lord. It is enough for the disciple that he be as his master, and the servant as his lord. If they have called the master of the house Satan, how much more shall they call them of his household?

"Fear them not therefore: for there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known. What I tell you in darkness, that speak you in light: and what you hear in the ear, that preach you upon the housetops. And fear not them, which kill the body, but are not able to kill the Linksoul: but rather fear him, which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

"Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? And one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear you not therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.
