Power!

And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one passion in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from Linkheaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and began to speak with other languages, as the Spirit gave them words.

And there were living at Jerusalem LinkJews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven. Now when this sound was heard, the crowd came together, and were confounded, because…every Linkman heard them speak in his own language. And they were all amazed and marveled, saying one to another, "Look, are not all these which speak Galileans?" And they were all amazed, and were in doubt, saying one to another, "What means this?"

Others mocking said, "These men are full of new wine."

But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said unto the people, "You men of Judea, and all you that live at Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and listen to my words: For these are not drunken, as you suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day. But this is that which was spoken by the Linkprophet Joel; ‘and it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams: And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy.

" ‘And I will show wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke: The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord come: And it shall come to pass, that whoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be Linksaved.’

"You men of Israel, hear these words; LinkJesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by him in the midst of you, as you yourselves also know: Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, you have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and killed: Whom God has raised up, having loosed the pains of Linkdeath: because it was not possible that he should be held by it.

"For David spoke concerning him, ‘I foresaw the Lord always before my face, for he is on my right hand, that I should not be moved: Therefore did my heart rejoice, and my tongue was glad; moreover also my flesh shall rest in hope: Because you will not leave my Linksoul in hell, neither will you allow your Holy One to see decay.’

"Men and brethren, let me freely speak unto you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his tomb is with us unto this day. Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of David’s body, according to the flesh, God would raise up Christ to sit on his throne; David seeing this before spoke of the resurrection of Christ, that Jesus’ soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see decay.

"This Jesus has God raised up, of which we all are witnesses. Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, he has shed forth this, which you now see and hear. Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God has made that same Jesus, whom you have crucified, both Lord and Christ."

Now when they heard this, they were pained in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, "Men and brothers, what shall we do?"

Then Peter said unto them, "Repent, and be Linkbaptized everyone of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the Linkforgiveness of sins, and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call."

Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there was added unto them about three thousand souls. And they continued steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers. Praising God, and having favor with all the people. And awe came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles. And the Lord added to the church daily such as would be saved.

Now Peter and John went up together into the temple at the hour of prayer, being the ninth hour. And a certain man lame from his mother's womb…laid daily at the gate of the temple…seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple asked for charity. Then Peter said, "Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk." And the man, leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God. And…all the people ran together unto them in the porch that is called Solomon's, greatly wondering.

…When Peter saw it, he answered unto the people, "You men of Israel, why marvel you at this? or why look you so earnestly on us, as though by our own power or holiness we had made this man to walk?

"The God of LinkAbraham, and of LinkIsaac, and of LinkJacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified his Son Jesus; whom you delivered up, and denied him in the presence of Pilate, when he was determined to let him go. But you denied the Holy One and the Just, and desired a murderer to be granted unto you; and killed the Prince of life, whom God has raised from the dead; of which we are witnesses. And his name through faith in his name has made this man strong, whom you see and know….

"And now, brethren, I know that through ignorance you did it, as did also your rulers. But those things, which God before had showed by the mouth of all his prophets, that Christ should suffer, he has so fulfilled. Repent you therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord; and he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you: Whom the heaven must receive until the times of renewal of all things, which God has spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began.

"For LinkMoses truly said unto the fathers, ‘A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall you hear in all things whatever he shall say unto you. And it shall come to pass, that every soul, which will not hear that prophet, shall be destroyed from among the people.’

"Also…all the prophets from Samuel and those that follows after, as many as have spoken, have likewise foretold of these days. You are the children of the prophets, and of the Linkcovenant, which God made with our fathers, saying unto Abraham, ‘And in your seed shall all the kindred of the earth be blessed.’ Unto you first God, having raised up his Son Jesus, sent him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from his iniquities."

And as Peter and John spoke unto the people, the priests, and the captain of the temple, and the Sadducees, came upon them, being grieved that they taught the people, and preached through Jesus the resurrection from the dead. And they laid hands on Peter and John, and put them in prison unto the next day: for it was now evening. However, many of them, which heard the word believed; and the number of the people was about five thousand.

And it came to pass on the next day, that the Jew’s rulers, and elders, and scribes, and Annas the high priest, and Caiaphas, and John, and Alexander, and as many as were of the relatives of the high priest, were gathered together at Jerusalem. And they called Peter and John, and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus.

But Peter and John answered and said unto them, "Whether it be right in the sight of God to listen unto you more than unto God, judge you. For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard." And being let go, they went to their own company, and reported all that the chief priests and elders had said unto them.

And when the company heard that, they lifted up their voice to God with one mind, and said, "Lord, you are God, which has made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all that in them is: Who by the mouth of your servant David has said, ‘Why did the heathen rage, and the people imagine vain things? The kings of the earth stood up, and the rulers were gathered together against the Lord, and against his Christ.’ For of a truth against your holy child Jesus, whom you have anointed, both Herod, and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles, and the people of Israel, was gathered together….

"And now, Lord, see their threatening: and grant unto your servants, that with all boldness they may speak your word, by stretching out your hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of your holy child Jesus." And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness. And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all.

And by the hands of the apostles were many signs and wonders taking place among the people…. And believers were the more added to the Lord, great numbers both of men and women. There came also a crowd out of the cities round about unto Jerusalem, bringing sick folks, and them which were troubled with Linkevil spirits: and they were healed every one.

Then the high priest rose up, and all they that were with him, (which is the sect of the Sadducees) and were filled with indignation, and laid their hands on the apostles, and put them in the common prison. But the angel of the Lord by night opened the prison doors, and brought them out, and said, "Go, stand and speak in the temple to the people all the words of this life." And…they entered into the temple early in the morning, and taught.

But the high priest came, and they that were with him, and called the council together, and all the senate of the children of Israel, and sent to the prison to have them brought. Then came one and told them, saying, "Look, the men whom you put in prison are standing in the temple, and teaching the people."
