Hebrew 6754: tselem {tseh'-lem}

In this text:

1) image
1a) images (of tumors, mice, heathen gods)
1b) image, likeness (of resemblance)
1c) mere, empty, image, semblance (fig.)

The idea "to shade" implies that our resemblance to God is similar to the resemblance a shadow has to the object that casts it. In other words, our resemblance to God is only a faint shadow of the reality of who God is.

The word tselem appears a number of times in the Bible. It is translated differently in various texts appearing as; image 16 times, vain shew 1 time; for a total of 17 appearances.
