Adonizedek

The Hebrew word for Adonizedek means "Lord of righteousness." He was an Amorite king of Jerusalem who formed a military alliance with the rulers of Hebron and three other towns to attack the town of Gibeon. After their defeat by Joshua, Adonizedek and the four kings hid themselves in a cave at Makkedah. They were discovered and sealed into the cave while Joshua and the army pursued their enemies. Later they were put to death. Their bodies were hung on trees until sunset and then they were cut down and buried and again sealed in the cave. See Joshua 10.
