Cain

Cain was the oldest son of Adam and Eve and the first human child. He was a farmer and when he brought a sacrifice to God it was of the fruits of the ground. God rejected this because it was not what he had asked for as an offering. Cain became mad when his brother Abel's offering was accepted and not his. He then murdered Abel and became a fugitive and wander across the face of the earth.

Lessons from the life of Cain:

  • Don't react in anger to disappointment.
  • What we offer to God must be in obedience to His requests and from the heart.
  • The consequences of sin may last a lifetime.
  • Uncontrolled anger can motivate sinful actions.

Cain's story is told in Genesis 4:1-17. He is also mentioned in Hebrews 11:4; 1 John 3:12; and Jude 1:11.
