Joshua
Joshua the son of Nun was born in Egypt and went through the events of the Exodus. Moses took him as an assistant when he went to the mountains to talk with God. He is referred to in the Bible as the "servant" of Moses. When Moses sent twelve spies to scout out the land of Canaan, Joshua represented the tribe of Ephraim. Only Joshua and Caleb returned to the camp with a report that they could take the land with God's help. Because of his faith he was allowed to enter the land at the end of their forty years of wandering in the wilderness. All the other Israelites who lived at that time, except Caleb, died before entering the Promised Land. When Moses died, Joshua became his successor. As a brilliant military leader and follower of God, he led the Israelites in conquering and settling the land. He also led the people in renewing their covenant with God. When he died at the age of 110, he was buried at Timnath Serah, the land of his inheritance. Lessons from the life of Joshua:
