Noah
Noah is the hero of faith who believed God and obeyed in building an ark that saved mankind from total destruction by the Flood. Noah lived at a time when the whole earth was filled with corruption and violence, yet he did not let his surroundings break his fellowship with God. He spent 120 years building the ark and preaching God's judgment and mercy. People turned a deaf ear to his pleadings until a flood destroyed them. When the ark was ready his three sons and their wives and Noah and his wife were the only humans to enter and be saved. Noah built an alter to the Lord after the flood, and God promised him and his descendants that He would never again destroy the entire earth with water. The rainbow is a sign of that covenant. His sons were Shem, Ham and Japheth. He died at the age of 950 years. Lessons from the life of Noah:
Noah's story is told in Genesis 5:28 through Genesis 10:32. He is also mentioned in 1 Chronicles 1:3-4; Isaiah 54:9; Ezekiel 14:14, 20; Matthew 24:37-38; Luke 3:36; Luke 17:26-27; Hebrews 11:7; 1 Peter 3:20; and 2 Peter 2:5.
