Rebekah
Rebekah's story begins when Abraham sends his chief servant to Mesopotamia to seek a bride for Isaac. Abraham wanted his son to marry a woman from his own country rather a Canaanite. When the servant arrived at a well outside Paran Aram he asked the Lord for a sign that would let him know which young girl would be a good wife for Isaac. He received the sign he asked for when Rebekah arrived and offered to draw water for him and the camels. He soon learned that she was the granddaughter of Abraham's brother. The servant told the girl and her family about his mission and she agreed to go with him to be Isaac's wife. She was barren for a long while, but after Isaac pleaded with the Lord she finally became the mother of twins, which she named Jacob and Esau. When the time came for Isaac to give the birthright to his oldest son Esau, Rebekah conspired with Jacob and tricked Isaac into giving it to Jacob. Because of this deception Jacob had to flee to Padan Aram to escape Esau's anger. She never saw her son again as she died while Jacob was in Mesopotamia. She was buried in the cave of Machpelah in Hebron where Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Sarah, and Leah were also buried.
Rebekah's story is told in Genesis 24 through 27. She is also mentioned in Romans 9:10.
