What happens when God speaks?
1. God spoke the world into existence. Psalm 33:6
2. God spoke the ten commandments inito existence. Deuteronomy 5:22
3. But when He comes back He is going to shout, and the dead will hear His voice. 1 Thessalonians 4:16
Condition of the dead.
1. Where are the dead? In the grave.

2. Do the dead retain their senses? Can they see, hear, taste, touch, or smell?
  1. The dead do not know anything. Ecclesiastes 9:5-6
  2. The dead don't see or hear anything. Job 14:21
  3. The dead will not awaken until the resurrection. Job 14:10,12
  4. The dead cannot speak. Psalm 115:17
Life is found only in Jesus Christ
1. He who has Christ has life.

  2. Christ is the only One who cam forth from the grave.

    3. Not Confucius
  3. It is Christ that gives us life. Romans 8:11
2. When will the resurrection take place?
  1. In the last days. John 6:39-40,44
  2. At the coming of Christ

    2. 1 Corinthians 15:20, 23
3. What will our bodies be like at the resurrection?
  1. e will have real bodies. Job 19:25-27
  2. We will be able to hear.
    1. "Do not marvel at this; for the hour is coming in which all who are in the graves will hear His voice."

  3. Christ, after His resurrection, ate food. Luke 24:36-41
  4. At the resurrection we will have bodies like Christ's.. Philippians 3:21
Is there anyone in heaven now?
1. Resurrected at death of Jesus
  1. Bible says Enoch, Elijah and Moses are now in heaven.
  2. There were saints resurrected. Mattehw 27:51-53
2. What about the thief on the cross?
  1. Luke 23:42-43
  2. The thief didn't go to heaven that day. John 19:31-32
  3. Jesus didn't go to heaven that day. John 20:17
3. Didn't Paul say when he died he was going to go right to heaven?
  1. 2 Corinthians 5:8
    1. No time in death.
    2. Paul understood when he died the very next thing he would know would be the coming of the Lord.

The promise of the resurrection
